Summary Description
The Riding Academy Coach will be responsible for operating an efficient, effective Riding Academy program in compliance with all state regulations, Harley-Davidson and Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) standards as well as providing a welcoming environment for students/customers. The Riding Academy Coach will accomplish these objectives through planning, organizing, training, coordinating, and measuring the activities of the department and students.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle all operational aspects and logistics for the classes including the classroom, training range, storage
space, equipment, materials, reservations and scheduling..
- Assist staff in helping the dealership to promote the New Rider Course.
- Coordinate the maintenance/repair/safety checks of the Riding Academy training fleet.
- Complete all required training.
- Coach/assist staff on how to handle inquiries and sell the New Rider Course.
- Market the Riding Academy New Rider Course to potential students, both over the phone and in the dealership.
- Adhere to all governing regulations and ensure proper liability insurance has been obtained.
- Ensure all fleet bikes are correctly registered.
- Track and report program results.
- Enter test scores and incident information into the Student Management System after each class.
- Complete and submit regulatory paperwork.
- Be knowledgeable of needs and considerations of all stakeholder groups.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current valid driver’s license with motorcycle endorsement required.
- Currently ride motorcycles on a frequent and routine basis.
- Minimum of 2 years of motorcycle riding experience required.
- Successful motor vehicle background check and pass a drug screen.
- Passion for the motorcycling lifestyle and riding community.
- Sincere desire to share the joy of riding motorcycles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present oneself as well as the company in a professional manner.
- Must have the ability to relate with a broad customer base.
- Interpersonal skills and customer service skills required.
- Approachable, likeable, and enthusiastic personality.
- High energy level needed, while being calm, patient and focused.
- Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, positive, driven and helpful.
- Knowledge of applicable laws/policies/principles/etc.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings required.
Physical Demands
- Requires the use of both hands.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, handle tools and lift 50lbs of material.
- Requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires the ability to balance and push a 500+lb motorcycle.
Working Conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Potential exposure to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department.
- Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
In addition to the outlined essential job functions, the employee is required to complete all additional tasks assigned by his/her supervisor, as the supervisor sees fit for the position. Failure to comply will result in immediate discipline at the discretion of dealership management.
